Week 5 – Narration

One day, Lady was captured by the Dog Catcher. She was running with another dog that had no collar, named Tramp. They were running so fast but Lady didn’t see the Dog Catcher’s carriage and the Dog Catcher threw out his net and caught Lady. Lady was sad. Tramp didn’t see Lady get captured because he was too fast and he was ahead of her when she was captured.  Tramp was also sad.

Week 3 – Dictate Dialog

“I wish I had a cat,” said Abigail.

Emily said, “You can’t have a cat like that!”

“When I grow up I’m going to go to the animal shop and get a cat.”

Sophia said, “I want to come too!”

“Sophia, when you grow up you can come with me.”

“Ok,” said Sophia.

Nathan said, “I’m going to come too and buy a dog so my dog can bite your cat!”

Abigail said, “I changed my mind, I’m going to buy a lion to bite your dog, Nathan!”

“If everybody is coming then who will watch on the house?”

The End

Week 2 – Family Portrait

Our family likes to go to Oishii Sushi because there’s a kind of sushi and this is what it’s called. It’s called Salmon on top of rice. The kids like to go to Oishii because they like sushi. Mommy and Daddy also like Oishii because they like sushi too. Sometimes Daddy wrestles with us. The boys like fighting Daddy, and the girls like to snuggle with Mommy. We also like when Daddy reads to us or makes up stories about three little princesses and two little princes, and King Daddy and Queen Mommy. We love stories and Oishii sushi.

Week 1 – Pat the Rat

One day Pat was feeling hungry, so he went out to buy some food because he had no food at home. He went to the grocery store and bought apples, pears, bananas and cheese. He also bought potatoes and tomatoes. And then he went home. When he got home he said hello to his mom and sat at the table to wait for his food. His mom made a big pie called Apple Pie and she brought it to the table. And then they ate. The next day, they ate the other food that Pat brought from the grocery store. The end.

Week 36 – Story-Starter

1B - LA - Week 36

Once upon a time eleven people were at the beach. It was night time so they made a fire. They were listening to music so they started dancing around the fire. To have fun, two boys started boxing. One boxer got a knockout. After a minute the guy who got knocked out got up. He started boxing another guy and he got a knockout. Then they stopped boxing because they didn’t want to do that anymore.
They setup a thing over the fire so they could cook food there. They cooked coconuts from the coconut tree. They ate the coconuts and it tasted good. After a little bit it was getting late so they put out the fire and went home.

The End.

Week 33 – Narration (Describe Your Street)

When you walk down Riverbrook Way, you see very tall evergreen trees, some are even taller than our house. There are not a lot of traffic jams since the street is not very busy. Most of the cars that you’ll see are parked on driveways or on the road. As you walk on the sidewalk you’ll sometimes hear a car, but usually you’ll feel and hear a gentle breeze. It’s normally cold so we wear a hoodie but in summer we don’t. It is very hot and sunny in spring. In the winter the ground is covered in snow as white as sugar, in summer with grass as green as green can be. When you walk by our house you’ll see a large grey rock that feels very bumpy. Near the rock you’ll see a black lamp post that feels very smooth (when there’s no cobwebs on it).

Week 31 – Field Trip

Last week I got to go to the Edmonton Science Centre. I thought it would be just like the Calgary Science Centre, but it wasn’t. You can play with marbles on tracks and tubes. There was a spot where you could make islands out of sand and my Mom made Bora Bora! You can make Lincoln Log houses and see if they stand a shaking foundation. When I saw all this stuff, I really liked it and it was really fun.

Week 30 – Synthesis

How plants grow.

Dig a hole in soft soil and put a seed in the hole. Not the bag of seeds, but take one seed out and put it in the hole. Then cover it back it up with dirt. Then water the dirt where you planted it. Make sure it gets plenty of light so it will grow, but not too much light otherwise it will dry out. You might want to water it three times a day, or maybe four or five. Still make sure it gets plenty of light.

Then after a long time the stem grows up. At first it will be really small but after a while it gets bigger and bigger. Then you start to see petals, not pedals like on a bike, but petals on a flower. Remember, you still keep watering it. When all the petals are out, then you have a flower. But remember, you still water it and let it have plenty of sunshine. Now you have a plant, just make sure there’s no weeds around. That is how you plant a flower and how they grow.
