Week 3 – Bolt Buddies (Oscar the Robot)

K - LA - Week 03One summer, Gabe wanted to make a robot. So he asked his mom if he could make one, and she said yes, but when you cut things out please make sure that you don’t drop things on the floor because we are going to have guests over and I don’t want them to trip on the things that you’ve cut out.

Gabe told his mom the things he needed and mom got them for him. He needed a pail, tape, paper, and bendy straws (for the legs), two round tinker toys, and pencil crayons (for his hands). Then Gabe made the robot on a table and named him Oscar. Gabe made a door on Oscar’s chest so that anything Oscar made, Gabe could take it out from that door. Oscar was a robot that could make things, and he beeped when he was finished making things.

Oscar really liked Gabe because Gabe made him! The first thing that Oscar made was a card for Gabe. Gabe said “Thank you,” nicely. Gabe and Oscar became very good friends. They like to sit outside on the porch and play together and hug each other.

Week 3 – Pulling Teeth (Newspaper Reporter)

Nathan had a toothache because his tooth was so loose. He couldn’t sleep because of the ache.

“Dad, my tooth hurts. Can I try to get it out?”
“Sure, get a kleenex.”
“Dad, don’t pull it out. I want to pull my own tooth out.”
“OK.”

Nathan pulled for almost an hour, and Mom thought he was staying up too long, so she said, “Go back to bed, Nathan.”

Later that night, when his Mom & Dad were sleeping, Nathan crept quietly into the bathroom, got a kleenex, and slipped back into bed. He started to pull and wiggle at his loose tooth, but it still wouldn’t come out.

In the morning, Nathan wiggled and wiggled and pulled and pulled, and this time he pulled it out! When he showed his Mom & Dad, they were very happy.

Mom said, “How did you pull your tooth without crying?”
Nathan smiled and left Mom & Dad to figure it out.

Nathan sure is brave!

Week 3 – Fairy Tale Dialog

Once upon a time, Pooh went, “Hey, Rabbit! Look at that baby elephant with such big ears.” Then Rabbit said, “That’s not any regular elephant, it’s Dumbo.” Then they saw Dumbo start flying. Then Pooh said, “You’re right, Rabbit, it isn’t any ordinary elephant.” Then Rabbit said, “I said regular, not ordinary.”

Then Dumbo landed right on top of a tree frog in a tree and the frog said, “Hey, Dumbo! If you don’t get off of me, I’ll hop you off!” Dumbo wouldn’t get off because he couldn’t see the frog, so the frog hopped him off and Dumbo fell down the tree. Rabbit laughed, “He didn’t have enough time to fly!” Pooh screamed, “Oooww!” because Dumbo landed right on top of Pooh.

Once Dumbo got off, Pooh said, “You know what, Rabbit? I don’t think I want to see that elephant again.” “Alright, I’ll bring you to a place where Dumbo never goes.” And he brought Pooh back home to his house.

The end.

Week 1 – Finish the Story

They went outside.  They played in the snow and they went down a big hill made of snow on their sled. They had fun on their sled. The hill was so big they didn’t see the rock covered in snow, and when they went down they were going really fast and the saw the rock but they couldn’t turn the sled so they crashed into the rock. They laughed and they weren’t hurt. But there is a dent in the sled. The sled does still work.
