Week 11 – The Cat Book

One day, Matt the Cat went to the beach. He brought his toy boat, and a pail. He built a big castle and a moat around it.

Matt wanted to sail his boat, but the moat didn’t have any water yet.

So he got his pail…

and filled it with water from the ocean.

He started to go back to his castle. He was very excited, thinking of sailing his boat in the moat, and he didn’t see the umbrella right in front of him!

He tripped on the umbrella,

His pail flew up and landed on his head. Plunk! All of the water spilled out.

He still wanted to sail his boat, so he filled his pail again and sailed his boat in the pail.

Week 10 – The Tall Tale (What Causes Thunder?)

There once was a giant as tall as the biggest skyscraper in the whole world. His name was Thor. Thor had a hammer as tall as a three-story house. The hammerhead was 30 ft long and 20 ft wide. It was a huge hammer. Whenever he wanted to make thunder, Thor would bang his hammer against the ground. Boom! Boom! Boom! Boy, did the people tremble whenever he made that sound! Whenever his hammer was about to hit the ground, it would shoot out lightning and rain.

Week 10 – Explain Something (Make a Parascope)

Q: How do you make a toy parascope?

A: To make a toy parascope you will need a long, skinny, rectangular cardboard box, two small mirrors, tape, and scissors. First, cut a square flap on the long side of the cardboard box, near the end. Make sure the flap is tucked in. Next, take a long piece of tape and crumple it all up, and put it on the flap, then put the mirror on top. Flip the box over, and do the same on the other side, on the opposite end (not on the same end as your first flap). Now you have a toy parascope that you can use when pretending to be a spy!

Week 10 – When I Grow Up (Fighter Pilot)

When I grow up, I want to be a Fighter Pilot because I like to fly in the sky and drop stuff. Fighter Pilots fight and kill the bad guys because they don’t want bad guys to take over our country and kill us. I have to learn what a Fighter Pilot does and press the right buttons and put the bomb on the right guys, not the good guys but the bad guys. I have to be brave and press the right buttons. As long as the fight is, I’m going to keep on fighting and stop the bad guys.
