Week 7 – What’s So Funny?

“What’s so funny?” asked Madeleine.
“Oh, I’m looking at a picture of a bird stuck in a bottle and the bird is holding a sign that says ‘Can I have some candy, please?'” said Gabe, laughing.
“That’s a funny thing!” said Madeleine.
Then Gabe said, still laughing, “On the back of the page there is a bird walking on his head, eating, um… paper!”
Madeleine sighed, “Oh, why are you making up such funny things?”
“I’m not making them up, I’m just telling you what it is.”
Then Gabe showed Madeleine both sides of the paper, and Madeleine laughed so hard that she fell down. She was alright and kept on laughing.

Week 5 – How to Brush Your Teeth

Take your toothbrush out of the toothbrush holder. Don’t take someone else’s toothbrush because you might get them sick if you are sick. Put a little bit of toothpaste (not the girls’ toothpaste) on your toothbrush by squirting it. Wet the toothpaste on your toothbrush with water, and then brush! You take your toothbrush and brush the teeth inside your mouth with the toothpaste. Brush the front and the back and every part of your teeth. Brush everything in your mouth! Then, spit out the toothpaste and wash it down the drain with water. Take a sip of water and gargle it around in your mouth, and then spit it out so that you get all of the toothpaste out. Then you rinse your toothbrush with water and put it back in the toothbrush holder. Now your teeth are clean!

Week 4 – Story Elaboration

Original story: Luke swam. Luke won.

Luke lived by a river with crocodiles in it. One day he wanted to race a crocodile, who was very nice and wouldn’t try to bite him. It was a nice day. Lots of people from lots of places came to watch the race. Luke and the crocodile both swam their hardest. It was very close, but Luke won. Luke won a bag of chocolate from his dad. Luke felt pretty happy and shared his chocolate with the crocodile and some of the guys that were watching.

Week 4 – The Visitor (Grandpa and Grandma)

Last month, Grandpa and Grandma came to our house to have a visit. We drank chocolate milk, and they gave us lots of candy! We ate sausages. We put on a show for them, it was an acrobat show. While they were watching, we served them food (it was play food). Grandma showed us how to do a magic trick: We hid behind a blanket, and there were chairs behind the blanket. Nathan was on the blue chair, and I was on the green chair. We switched chairs, and then Dad pulled the blanket away so that Nathan was Gabe, and Gabe was Nathan. I like when they come to visit because I like Grandpa and Grandma and I like chocolate milk.
