Week 26 – Fairy Tale Smash-up

A smash up between Snow White and Little Red Riding Hood.

One day Little Red Riding Hood was baking a loaf of bread for Granny when the doorbell rang. Little Red Riding Hood had just put the loaf of bread in the oven and she went to go see who it was. Then she opened the door just a little bit and saw Snow White. Snow White said, “Please let me in, my step-mother, the Queen, is trying to kill me!” So Little Red Riding Hood said, “OK. I will let you in for a little bit. We’ll work together to get that Queen!”

Little Red Riding and Snow White went together to Granny’s house on the other side of the woods. They brought the loaf of bread for Granny. When Snow White and Little Red Riding Hood went in the room they found Snow White’s step-mother lying in the bed. Snow White said, “Granny! She looks like my step-mother.” The Queen tried to sound like Granny and said, “Please give me that loaf of bread.”

Little Red Riding Hood said, “Nope! I don’t think you’re Granny because you look like Snow White’s step-mother.” Then the Big Bad Wolf appeared from the closet. He said, “I want to eat you all up!”

Snow White and Little Red Riding Hood ran away and as they ran away they yelled “Help!” The Big Bad Wolf scraped the mean old step-mother with his claws. Then he bit off her head. That was the end of the mean old step-mother.

Then Little Red Riding Hood’s father came. He chopped off the wolf’s head with his axe. And they all lived happily ever after.

The End.

Week 27 – Imagination

I lived in a castle with my brothers, sisters, Mommy and Daddy. I was a beautiful princess. I loved to go out for adventures and not just sit in the castle all day. One day I really, really wanted to go on an adventure but Mommy and Daddy said no. But when Mommy and Daddy weren’t looking, I snuck out the door and went looking for an adventure (even though they told me not to).

I went out of the castle and it was a hot day so I went to the river. When I got to the river there was already people there. I saw my brothers and sisters and Mommy and Daddy! I was so surprised. How could this be? Maybe it was my birthday? Wait a minute. It can’t be my birthday because it is summer and my birthday is in December!

“How did you get here before me?” I said. “We drove in the car,” said Emily.
“Hunh? I didn’t even see you guys get in the car.”

Then I saw Daddy get out the fishing rods. When all the fishing rods were in our hands, Mommy told us the rules. When Mommy was done telling the rules we started fishing. Sophia got none (because she doesn’t know how to fish). Emily got 2. I got 3. Gabe got 4. Nathan got 5. Mommy got 6. And Daddy got 7. And Joshua didn’t get any because he doesn’t know how to fish and he is too small.

We cut up the fish and ate sushi on the beach.

Then we went home.

The End.

Week 27 – Painting with Words

Once upon a time the Stephens family (that’s us) wanted to go camping in the woods. So we packed up everything we needed, including burgers.  We put everything in the car and we drove for a long time to the woods. When we finally got there, we unpacked everything.

While we were getting everything ready, Abigail wanted to go exploring. So she wandered off into the big woods. She wandered for hours while the rest of our family was looking for her. She saw all sorts of animals. Then she saw a baby deer. She ran fast to the baby deer and she named it Faline.  She held out a piece of lettuce that she took from the camp, and the deer ate the lettuce. They became friends.

Abigail hopped on the Faline’s back and made her ride around the woods so she could find our family’s camp.  It took a long time, but she finally found the camp. When she climbed off the deer’s back, she noticed that her family wasn’t there. So she sat down in a big pile of food and began eating. When Mommy and Daddy arrived back at the camp, they found her sitting in a pile of food, with a stomach ache. They said, “We have to go home now because we don’t have enough food for camping'” So the kids cried, and they packed up everything and went home.

The end.

Week 27-Cause and Effect

“HELP!” Cried a boy “HELP!” Just a little while ago a villain had led him up the steps to the church bells and tied him to a bell. The boy was Ryan the Prepared.

Ryan’s straps broke but he had a parachute (for of course he was Ryan the Prepared) He landed and ran off. The villain ran after him but of course he had a jet pack and a supply of oxygen and food. He blasted to space and explored. Then one day plummeted into the sun. The End

Week 24 – Persuade (Spam Sushi)

Dad, let’s make spam sushi today! I like spam sushi because I like the spam inside. And, I like the seaweed on the outside and I like Soy Sauce with it. My brothers and sisters REALLY like it too! We should have it because it is healthy for us and everyone will finish their food quickly, completely and wisely. We will also help by bringing the food to the table. Afterwords, we will help clear the table, wipe and sweep. While the boys are wiping and sweeping, I will do the dishes. Mom and Dad will be very proud of me! Please can we have spam sushi?

Week 24 – You are the Teacher!

Do you know how to brush your teeth? I can teach you how to brush your teeth. First, you get out your own toothbrush and the toothpaste. And then you squirt a little piece of toothpaste (about half a pea) on your toothbrush. Then you turn on the faucet and wet the toothpaste on the toothbrush. Then, you carefully brush your teeth: the top and bottom, your tongue, the bottom of your tongue, and under your tongue and the insides of your cheeks. You should brush your teeth after breakfast, lunch and dinner. You brush your teeth to get rid of the germs that put holes in your teeth and give you bad breath.  Everyone should brush their teeth. If you don’t know how to brush your teeth, your Mommy and Daddy will help you.

Week 23 – Finish the Story

Original story:
Bob and his mother need groceries. They need bananas, bread, and milk. They get in their car and drive to the grocery store. Bob pushes the cart and his mother gets the food.

Emily’s ending:
They buy the milk and eggs at Superstore but they need to go to Costco for the bananas and bread. So they went to Costco to get the bananas and bread. The bananas were in the first aisle, and the bread was in the second aisle. They needed those things to make a cake. Except for the bread. The bread was for peanut butter and cookie butter and cream cheese for breakfast, or egg salad at lunch. Then they drove home and Bob made a cake for his mothers birthday all by himself because because it was a surprise. They had eggs leftover because they bought a lot of eggs in a big carton and thy didn’t need it all for the cake. So they made egg salad for egg salad sandwiches for lunch.

Week 23 – Story Starter

THE LIAR.
By Nathan Stephens

The crowd was silent. They watched the liar be led away to jail! A few minutes ago they had been laughing at that nasty theif. The man (nobody yet knew that he was a theif and a img_7067.jpgliar.)bit the lion’s mane. The children wanted to try that out too!  Meanwhile the Cheif of police was thinking:we haven’t had a case since the circus tiger breakout last summer! Just then the telephone rang “Cheif Lawerence!”came detective Peter’s voice “we are on a very mysterious case!”

The children cried to their parents “THE LION IS A DUMMY!” Little Rachel wrote in diary “i am at thu surckus and theres a dummee and a badgie 2”  Now they locked him up! The next day they saw police officers running by shouting things like:”he’s getting away!”or”can you go around that house to corner him?”They headed toward the ravine! The only way across was a narrow rope bridge on witch the liar slipped and fell.As he fell a man knocked a few boulders down witch knocked him out.

Week 23 – An Odd Place to Surface

One day a boy was on his knees and hands and was looking from the door to his fish bowl. And he saw a sunken boat and there was a diver half way out of the fishbowl and half way in the fish bowl. One fish was swimming up and the other was pointing to a sunken boat. The diver was trying to get that boat because it was his boat before the fish could bite him.

Now, the diver was just a toy because he is so small. The boy came and turned a switch on the diver and it made him grab the boat and then the boy picked the diver up with the boat in his hand and he’s out! The diver got his boat.

The End.

Week 23 – Narration (Jonah)

Jonah is a man that God sent to Nineveh because he wanted Jonah to tell the people of Nineveh to turn away from their sins or else God would overthrow their town.  Instead of going to Nineveh he caught a ship and went to Tarshish. Before he could get there, the Lord sent a bad storm and Jonah told the sailors to throw him in the sea so that the storm would stop. The sailors didn’t want to throw Jonah in the sea, but they did because the storm was getting worse and worse. And then, God sent a great fish and told the fish to swallow Jonah. Three days later, Jonah prayed to God and God told the fish to spit out Jonah onto dry land. Then Jonah got up and God said to him for the second time, “Go to Nineveh and tell the people to turn away from their sins.” This time, Jonah obeyed and went to Nineveh and told the people to turn away from their sins. And Jonah said, “If you do not turn away from your sins, God will overthrow your city.” The people believed Jonah and turned from their sins. Jonah’s message got to the king and he said, “We have disobeyed God. We should turn away from our sins.” And they did. Jonah felt angry about that, that God didn’t overthrow their land.  And God asked him,”Why are you angry?” Jonah was angry because God didn’t overthrow their land and Jonah wanted God to overthrow their city because of their sins. But God wanted to give them another chance.
