Week 31 – Synthesis

A vivid description of going to the Bow Habitat.

This week we went to the Bow Habitat. It was very fun! We got to feed lots of fish. There were billions of fish! The fish were in gigantic tubs of water. It smelled like fish. We weren’t allowed to touch the fish because we would get the fish sick and they would die. We don’t want to do that because we don’t want to kill the fish. That’s why before we went into the room where the fish were in the tubs, we washed our hands.

You should go to the Bow Habitat because you’ll learn about fish.

Week 31 – My Favorite Game

My favorite game is Candy Land.

The first thing is to open the box and pick our guys. There are cupcakes and stuff like that. You get the board out and you have to try and get your guy to the candy castle fastest. When it’s your turn you pick up a card to see how much you move. Or else, if you don’t use the card, people will just go up to the candy castle in one turn. So we have to use the cards. The cards have squares on them. So if there are 2 blocks, or 4 or 3 or 1, then you move the number of blocks that are on your card. You have to wait your turn before you pick up your card.

When you reach the candy castle you get lots of REAL candy for winning the game! You also get lots of desserts. And I mean that!

Week 30 – Where Am I?

A journal of a Roman soldier, Antonius, transported through time to be in our world today.

April 27, 117 AD

Where am I? I saw people go into a horse carriage that moved without a horse! I saw one press down a thing with his foot and this carriage without a horse started to move very quickly. I also saw people pickup a little tablet, put it on their ear, and start talking to themselves. I thought these people were going crazy!

Then I walked into a place that had a sign that said “Shooting Range.” I saw a thing that looked like a giant bar with things sticking down at the end. And when you pulled something back it made a big loud noise. There was a little target down at the end and when they pulled back the little thing that made the big noise there was a hole in the target. I thought this was magic. I was too afraid to try one myself. I started to wonder if those things can make holes in armor.

I decided to go back home. I found the machine that had let me come to here and I hopped in it again and it brought me back home.

Week 29 – A Character Over to Play

One day, Chris and Joy Quantum and their robot, Gizmo came to visit my Dream Room. First, they wanted to try on the jet packs.  That is, except for Gizmo. He said, “Remember the time when I put on a jet pack and smashed up the lab?”  Chris and Joy managed to get a jet pack on Gizmo, though it took a while and Gizmo screamed a lot. Gizmo tried flying up with his jet pack and he hit his head on the ceiling.

When they finally got Gizmo down and the Quantums were finished with the jet packs, they went down the chute and put on the bounty hunter armor. They jumped into the hologram and gizmo was shot right away. He pleaded with the robots, “Hey! I’m a robot, too!” Chris said it was better than the Holo-Nine.

Then, they left the hologram and started playing Wii. Chris shot the other kids before he shot the enemy tanks. The next round, I shot him. Then, their mother called them and said it was time to go. The end.

Week 29 – Give It a Try!

Dear Mommy and Daddy,

May we please play with our Lego?

Lego is fun to build stuff with, so we can learn to be more creative when we are older. We already have made neat creations, like when Dad opened the door to our room and shut it again and then a Lego sword went swinging down at him. (That one was using twine and tape.)

Lego also helps you follow instructions. When you have to build things like shelves when you’re older and it comes with instructions on how to build it, you can follow them.

You can also make your own toys out of Lego so you don’t have to go to the store and buy other toys. You can just build them. We also can build stuff we are learning about. Plus we read books and build the stuff that they mention out of Lego. Like when Nathan built a blue sword from the Hobbit.

All the kids like to play with Lego. The girls like to build houses, and the boys like to build weapons that we can use (not Lego mini-figure weapons). And the axe that I made has a secret compartment inside it.

I’m sorry for making the Lego table a big mess and not keeping it organized. We promise we will clean up the Lego table when you ask us to. We won’t leave the Lego on the floor. And we will clean up all the Lego on the floor that we used to be playing with.

May we please have our Lego back?

Love,
Gabe

Week 29 – Dream Room

Welcome to my room! If you want, you can play Wii on that wall-sized screen over there. Or you can put on one of those jet pack-and-helmet sets and blast out of the skylight.

Then again, you’ll probably like going down that chute over there. That takes you to the space age room where you can put on bounty hunter armor with a shooter on your arm (it’s a laser shooter). Then you can jump into the blue-ish screen and just like that you’ll be on a desert planet in another galaxy, with robots shooting at you and you get to destroy them.  The guns there are like Star Wars laser guns. By the way, this is all holographic so you don’t get hurt.  But still, you should look out for the giant robots with their super R73000 laser guns.

And while you’re here, you wont’t have any chores to do, I have a robot that does them.

Some of you might want a boring glass of water.  You’ll have to go downstairs for that.  Here, I have a special drink that gives you super strength and energy – enough to punch the robot into space. But you don’t want to do that –  I tried it once and it took him forever to get back.  But do drink some before going down the chute. You can punch the holographic robots in the game.

So many fun choices to choose from! Well, what do you want to do in here?

Week 30 – Synthesis

Describing sausages from “See How It’s Made”

They make sausages in a factory. This is how they make it. You’ll have to get a pig and kill the pig to get the meat for the sausages. You bake the pig. Then someone grinds up the meat. Then they put it in a curved tube like the shape of a sausage. Then they grab the tube and put it over the fire for a few minutes. When the sausages are done, you wash the sausages and then you put the sausages on a plate and eat them!

The End.

Week 30 – Blown Away

Once on a sunny day I saw a dog by the big who ate all the manna and dog food by my house. Then I saw a big airplane. I could hear what made the noise because my dog was barking because he was hungry. But then I noticed that the airplane was carrying a big wind mill. The airplane had scooped it up off the ground because it wanted the windmill to get more air up in the sky. The windmill cut down clouds with its big blades. It also split the sun in half. Then the windmill tried to cut me and my dog and my house in half but it couldn’t reach and I told him not to do that. Then the airplane engine flopped down and the windmill went right on top of my house. It was so heavy, it broke my house. Now I live in the windmill. I brought all my food in.

The End.

Week 29 – Story Starter

Once upon a time, when it was night time, I looked up at the sky and I saw a flying saucer. Then a dog came and I found a leash on the ground so I put the leash on the dog. Then I pointed to the moon because it was straight above the flying saucer. Then the flying saucer was going down slowly. It almost hit my head! But when it was straight above my head I thought it was going down even more but then it moved to the right. Then it went to the left and went back and forth.

I didn’t know that it was a dream. When I woke up I was back in my bed. I looked out the window and I saw the flying saucer! That was strange. I thought it was a dream.

Week 29 – The Big Storm

I was right outside the church. As soon as I got out of the church it began raining. I didn’t get wet because I was under the shade as we go out. As soon as we got in the car I said, “Make it hail.” And it hailed. Hail is big pieces of ice that come from the clouds. It sounded like a big thunderstorm even though it was a rain and hail storm. Other people were scared and stayed inside the church but me and the other kids (Nathan, Gabriel, Abigail, Sophia, and me, Emily) did feel good because we were inside the car and we thought: the hail can’t get us. On the way back to our house, Gabriel said, “Emily is magic!”

The End

PS I didn’t cause the hail, it just went down by itself.
