Week 35 – Free at Last!

He put his hand on Shan’s arm. Slowly they climbed the steps, while Nappus went ahead, holding the torch to light the way.

When they reached the top of the stairs, Shan asked his father, “Are you alright? Did they give you food?”

“Yes, they gave me rotten food and dirty water.”

Lord Weldon asked, “Are you alright?”

Shan replied, “Yes, I’m alright.”

Lord Weldon asked, “What happened to Lionel?”

Shan answered, “I’ll tell you later after we see mother and have a feast!”

The first place they went was mother’s room. When they reached mother’s room, they found her and when she saw her husband she had happy tears! They planned a celebration.

They dressed their father in a purple robe and crown and they had a feast with turkey, cheese and goat meat.

After everyone had left, Shan told his father about how he escaped the castle because Lionel wanted to kill them. If they didn’t leave, they would be killed, so they ran away and went to see King Arthur. King Arthur helped them by sending Sir Garaith to go back with Shan and Magnus to the castle to send Lionel away. Sir Garaith asked Lionel, “Why are you trying to be Lord of Weldon Castle?” Lionel answered, “I want to be Lord of Weldon Castle because I’ll get to be in charge of all the servants, even my own servants.” Sir Garaith told his servants to take Lionel and his men away and put them in King Arthur’s dungeon.

After Shan told Lord Weldon his story, Lord Weldon said, “Let me rest and go see King Arthur when I’m stronger. I need to tell him that I was lost but now I am found and to thank him.”

Lord Weldon also said to Shan, “You were brave. Where is my sword?” Shan replied, “It is in a small box in the hollow tree.” Lord Weldon said to Shan, “Go, grab the sword and give it to me.”

Shan ran into the hollow tree, grabbed the box with the sword in it and ran back to Lord Weldon. And Lord Weldon said, “Kneel.” And Shan kneeled. And Lord Weldon said, “I command you Sir Shan the Knight! I will give you my sword and shield and you may always ride with me when we go hunting.”

Shan said, “You’re actually going to give it to me? And I’m always allowed to ride with you?” His father replied, “Yes, that is true, you have earned it.”

“Thank you father,” said Shan and he hugged his father.

And they all lived happily ever after.

Week 35 – Pickles in a Pickle

Once upon a time, a cat named Pickles got into trouble. When Mrs. Good Kind told him to eat his food he did it, but when she told him not to chase cats he would not listen. He kept doing it over and over again! He did not like the house. He loved the outdoors because he loved chasing cats. One day, Mrs. Good Kind went shopping without Pickles. He liked that because Mrs. Good Kind wasn’t watching him. He could do whatever he wanted, and he didn’t have to stay in the house while she was gone. Pickles kept chasing little cats. When Mrs. Good Kind came back he stopped. But she knew he was chasing cats. So Mrs. Good Kind tied him up because he wasn’t listening to her. But every time she was gone, he kept chasing cats over and over again.

Then Mrs. Good Kind had an idea. She would bring some big alley cats to teach Pickles a lesson. They would chase Pickles and he would not like being chased. So he learned a lesson not to chase little cats because they would not like him chasing them. And so Pickles stopped chasing cats. And when Mrs. Good Kind came back and saw that Pickles was not chasing cats, she was happy.

Week 34 – All a Dream?

Once upon a time a boy and his family went sailing. There was a huge storm. The sails were wrecked and the storm was so strong it pushed the boat and the boat crashed into an island. There was no people or food on the island. It was just a grassy island.

Then a killer whale came swimming by. The killer whale was jumping out of the water like it was saying, “I’m coming to help you!” The boy jumped out of the boat and he swam to the killer whale. While he was swimming he found a rope in the water. The boy tied the rope to the killer whale and jumped on. And the killer whale started swimming and began pulling the boat away from the island. The killer whale pulled them all the way back home.

The boy wanted to keep the killer whale as a pet. But his mother and father said no. And so the boy went back to the ocean and let the killer whale go. And they all lived happily ever after.

Week 27 – Paint With Words

One day the Stephens went camping at daytime. And after they ate, Abigail went to play in the woods. And while she was in the woods she met a deer, and she didn’t want to scare the deer, and named the deer Faline. By accident she scared the deer and it ran away. And Abigail waited for it to come back. Finally it came back, and Abigail said she wouldn’t scare it anymore and the deer believed her. Abigail went down on her knees near the deer, and gave the deer a hug and kiss. Then she went back to her camp and got a collar for the deer, then she ran back to the dear and put the leash on the deer, and led the deer back to camp, and showed mom and dad the deer that she had found. And she asked, “Can I keep the deer?” and mom said yes. Next morning, Abigail woke up and saw that mom and dad we’re packing up, and Abigail asked if she could bring the deer home, and dad said yes. And when they reached home Abigail tied up with deer inside the house, and they lived happily ever after. The end. By Abigail Eva Stephens.

Week 26 – Bedtime Story

One night, Frog and Toad went to the jungle for a walk to cool off and get some fresh air. Suddenly, they heard a sound and they were scared. Finally, they noticed it was an owl, and they were not scared.

They kept on walking, and they met a zebra. And they said to the zebra, “How are you?” And the zebra said, “Hello.” They waved back and kept on walking.

And they met a monkey and the monkey said he had some friends in the jungle. He said, “You might find my friends if you keep on going.” So they kept on walking.

Next they met a tiger and the tiger said, “Come closer so I can eat you!” But Frog and Toad said, “No, we will not come closer, for we will run!”

And they ran home as fast as they could. When they reached Toad’s house, they said goodbye to each other and Frog went home.

Week 24 – Owl at Work

Once upon a time Owl was going to the firehouse. Owl was going to be a firefighter. He had to learn how to be a firefighter so he went looking for the firefighters. Then he heard something and the sound was “Weeee oooooouuuuu, weeeee oooooouuuuuu.” He started following the sound. He found the sound and there were all the firefighters in the fire truck.

He yelled, “Wait for me, I’m a firefighter too.” The chief said, “You can’t come with us, your not trained and neither are you in your firefighter clothes.” Then Owl said, “You can teach me and I can come along with you.” Then the Chief said, “It’s an emergency and there is no time to teach you.”

At the building that was burning, Owl saw people screaming from the roof for help. Even though he was supposed to stay near the truck, he flew up and began to save the people. A child sat on his back, he held a baby from his beak and a mother and father sat on his wings.

Owl saved the day! The Chief was so surprised that he gave Owl his own fire suit and a medal.

Week 15 – Be Persuasive

Dear Mommy,

May you please bring me to Calaway Park, but not bring me to Timber Falls? I’m happy at Calaway Park. I like shooting at each other and going on the big swing. We can go there without paying because you just have to show your tickets. You can invite friends without cleaning the house. You can learn to drive cars. May you please bring me to Calaway Park?

Love,

Abigail

Week 10 – The Tall Tale

Why is the sky blue?

A long time ago, the sky was just completely white. It had no other colors – no red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple or pink. So the Stephens kids decided to paint it. Joshua painted it all red. Sophia didn’t like that, so she painted the sky orange. Emily didn’t like that, so she painted the sky purple. Abigail didn’t like that, so she painted the sky pink. Gabe didn’t like that, so he painted the sky green. Nathan didn’t like that, so he painted the sky blue. There were no more kids, so the sky stayed blue.
