One summer, a big family went to the beach for a vacation. They wanted to see if the weather at the beach was good so they used binoculars.

At the beach they found a big, huge carrot floating in the water. And this is how it got in the water: it grew in the sand and was washed out by a very very strong powerful wave. It was a mystery how it grew in the sand. It grew so big that it was 8 feet long because no one could pull it out so it kept growing and growing. That’s why it grew 8 feet long.

After they found the carrot they put it over a fire. They used two sticks that they had to plant deep in the sand so that it would not fall over when the heavy carrot was put on it. They put the carrot over the fire to cook it because if they went home in the car, it would take a long time because the beach was far away from home and mommy and daddy would starve before they got there. They also couldn’t bring the carrot home because their trunk was only 5 feet long.

The kids started dancing around the fire so their mommy and daddy started dancing too. They started dancing because they wanted to get warmed up all over. When the huge carrot was done cooking, they ate it. “Mmm, boy that was good,” said all the girls. The boys said, “Mmm, that was Dee-licious.”

The phone rang and I answered it.
It was Leah. She hadn’t talked with me for a long time so she wanted to talk now.
Then the girls who had been hiding near me went and broke what I was building and I had to build it all over again.
I chased the girls down the stairs and closed the gate at the top of the stairs so they couldn’t get back up.

Once upon a time, Quacky the Duck was going swimming in the ocean. It was funny – for the first time in his life, the ocean was toothpaste instead of water! Instead of swimming, Quacky started walking on the toothpaste. Then, he started sinking in the toothpaste. He had brought his toothbrush with him and he brushed his teeth with the toothpaste. Since he was sinking, he walked over to a big grey bump. He sat in the middle of the bump and didn’t notice the little hole in the middle of the bump. Soon, the bump rose and it was a whale! Quacky was sitting on a whale! Then, the whale blew toothpaste out of his spout and blew Quacky right into the air! The toothpaste went up his pants and into his shirt and up out of his collar and onto his teeth. So he took out his toothbrush again, and started brushing his teeth again. He really wanted to keep his teeth clean. Then, he went back down again and the toothpaste had already turned back into water. He rinsed his mouth, but he did not have his diving suit on, so he started to sink. He swam back up to the surface but now the water had already turned into strawberries. So he started eating the strawberries. But he had been so hungry after all that that he ate every single strawberry in the ocean. Then he went home all messy and had to have a shower and brush his teeth again.

I’ve got some string and I’ll tell you some of the things you can do with it:

1.You can make a pencil holder by tying one end of the string to the front of the pencil, and the other end of the string to the back of the pencil, and then hang it over your neck. Now you can carry your pencil without using your hands!

2. You can make a spider web by cutting lots of long pieces of string. Take one end of each string and tie them all together. Then, make some shorter pieces of string, and tie them in between each of the long pieces. Once it looks like a spider web, take a tooth brush, dip it in some pickle juice and rub it against each and every piece of string in your web. Now you have a sticky spider web ready to catch leaves that are blowing in the wind, so that they don’t fly into your face.

3. You can make a Nerf Gun Pullback by tying one end of your string to your Nerf gun and the other end to a Nerf bullet. Once you have loaded your Nerf gun with your bullet that is attached to the string, you can shoot! And when you pull on the string it will pull your Nerf bullet back so that you can shoot it again and again without it getting lost!

4. You can make a bow by taking a stick and tying one of the string to one end of the stick, and the other end of the string to the other end of the stick.

That’s just four things that you can do with a piece of string!

During World War 2, in 1944, twenty French children were brought to a refuge on the top of a mountain. A man came and asked them if they would take care of ten Jewish children and keep them safe from the Nazis. The twenty children said yes and promised that they would never let the Nazis know about the ten Jewish children. When Nazi soldiers came up to the mountain, they hid the Jewish children in a cave, and didn’t speak a word to the Nazis. Even though they tried to scare them and tempt them with food, they still wouldn’t tell them where the ten Jewish children were because otherwise they would kill them. When the Nazis left, they came out of the cave. The twenty French children kept the ten Jewish children safe until the war was over and the Nazis were gone.

As soon as you turn onto our driveway, you can see our bird feeder hanging from our front tree. Our front tree has a thick trunk but has skinny branches, so skinny that I would fall if I climbed on them. Be careful where you step! The grass feels sharp, but it’s really the pine needles that have fallen from our pine tree. When you walk up our steps, you will hear the birds tweeting and eating from the feeder. Today, there is a soft breeze that gently moves the leaves on their branches. In our back yard, the deck smells like dirt because we’ve dumped a lot of dirt on it.
