Week 18 – Journal Adventure (St. George and the Egyptian’s Worst Battle)

Wednesday, August 25, 1333 BC

Yesterday I was slaying a dragon and told the dragon, “You’re not going to get away with the princess, mean dragon!” and then plllllp!! I was in Egypt! I didn’t know where I was. I had never seen such a hot and sandy place before.  For a moment, I thought that I was at the beach on a vacation! But I looked around and saw on my right were three great pyramids and realized that I was in Egypt. Where did I put my ice packs? I’m sweaty.  I joked. On my left, there was a battle going on with fleets of arrows and spears in the air. There was a lot of screaming and shouting. I wondered if I could help the Egyptians in their battle. As I rode towards them, I thought, “They don’t have any armor.” And then I thought, “Now I get it, they don’t have any armor because it’s so hot!” Then I saw another thing, there are no catapults because they aren’t even invented yet! After a lot of battling and fighting the Egyptians won. So I said, “Yay, I can go home. Wait a second. I can’t go home, I don’t know how.”

I started to look around for a way to go home. Finally I found a red button in the sand and I pressed it. And then, vrmmm vrmmm rummm, I went home.

The end.

Week 17 – Uncle Wiggily (Well-Known Character)

One day I wanted to find an adventure so I got out of my hollow stump bungalow and looked for an adventure. Finally I found my adventure. I was right near the place where the real boys and girls live. When I looked through a window I saw a real boy who was sick. I got some honey and I put it on his doorstep and I threw a stone at the door to make it sound like I knocked on it. When his mother opened the door, she looked down and saw the honey. I felt happy because the sick boy’s mother gave him the honey and the sick boy felt much better. That made my pink nose twinkle 🙂

Week 16 – Describing Day (Red Panda)

You should have seen how my red panda was acting last night. He was on the bottom bed of our bunk doing a hand-stand. Its striped racoon-like tail was up in the air and touching the top bunk. The lights were out and his glowing blue eyes were the only light in the room. He ripped the mattress as if it were a kleenex, using his claws which were like sabre-tooth tusks. He was so tired from all his activities that he finally fell asleep. What a crazy red panda!

Week 16 – Decoration Explanation

At Christmas, we decorate our Christmas Tree. We wrap lights around the tree and it’s attached to one of our light switches and when you turn on the switch the light turns on. We also put on Christmas decorations like silver stars and red and silver bulbs that hang by a hook on the branches of the tree. We decorate because we want to celebrate Jesus’ birthday. Jesus is the Son of God and we celebrate his birth.

Week 15 – Finish the Story

Original Story: Bill and Sue played together in the sandbox. They built roads for their cars and trucks. They added sticks as trees. Then, it began to rain.

And then the sand turned into mud. And then Bill and Sue got stuck in the sandbox because there was mud stuck all over them and it was sticking to the bottom of the sandbox, so they were stuck forever! And then Mom came to check on them and she saw that they were stuck. She tried to get them out but she couldn’t. She realized that they were really stuck. Then she called Daddy and told Daddy that the kids are stuck. Daddy pulled really hard and he got them out. Then they went inside but before they went inside they washed off the mud. The mom and dad took off their clothes and washed them with soap and water. The kids thought that next time they play in the sandbox and they see rain drops they should go inside.

Week 15 – Busiest Day Ever (Calvary Grace Conference)

When I woke up I got dressed in jeans and a shirt that wasn’t a pajama shirt. I got my shoes and jacket on and went straight into the car. It was a special breakfast to eat chocolate sandwiches in the car (I like chocolate). We warmed the engine and went to Calgary (Calvary) Grace. And then we listened to a sermon. I didn’t go downstairs because I was being so foolish and sour. Downstairs they were having fun doing crafts and playing. I tried to go downstairs but my Mom kept on calling me back.

And then I got a little bit hungry. After the sermon I went downstairs to play with Nathan in the class. And then while in the class, I got hungry. And then we stayed there to eat lunch. I ate something for lunch, but I can’t remember what I ate. (After prompting from Nathan…) We ate soup, crackers and cheese, and salad.

After lunch, we watched a Veggie Tales movie. I didn’t like it because it was a little bit scary. Then we went home and on the way home I fell asleep because I had such a busy day!

Week 15 – Be Persuasive (Baby Red Panda)

Dear Daddy,

I know you guys want me to be responsible, and I think taking care of a baby red panda would help me to be responsible. Being responsible means taking care of things well, and I promise I will take care of it well.  I will feed it, bath it, clean up after it, and take it outside when it needs to go potty. It won’t be any extra work for you.  Taking care of a baby red panda will help me appreciate what you do for me.  I’ll use all of my own money to help buy it.  It would be a lot of fun buying a baby red panda, don’t you think so? It would make me feel happier than having the biggest Lego set in the world.  May I please have a baby red panda?

Your Hopeful and Thankful Son,
Nathan

Week 14 – The Gap

K - LA - Week 14Once upon a time, Nathan and Gabe were in a house. One day they went to play in their backyard and then Nathan said, “Come on, lets go play somewhere else. The backyard doesn’t have toys, let’s go somewhere else with toys.” And then they got lost in a forest.

And then they found something wacky. They found a tree, and the top of the tree was not attached to the bottom of the tree. And then Gabe heard an owl and Nathan smelled a skunk. And they kept on looking at the tree. And Nathan put his hand between the tree and the stump. And he tried to pull the tree down but then it lifted him up. And then Nathan heard laughing and he looked at Gabe, but Gabe was not laughing. At the top of the tree there was mouth and eyes and the tree was laughing! Then Nathan jumped down and they found their way back home.

And I’ll tell you who did it, it was an invisible guy hiding in the tree.

The end.
