Week 7 – What’s So Funny?

“What’s so funny?” asked Gabe.
“I’m thinking of silly stuff from Winnie the Pooh,” said Abigail.
“What part of the Winnie the Pooh movie, Abigail?”
“When piglet wrote ‘Help P..P..P..Piglet me'”
“I don’t really think that part’s funny.”
“It is to me,” said Abigail.
“The part I think is funny is when Pooh says, ‘I must save my supper.’ Piglet wants to save his life and Pooh wants to save his honey.”
Abigail said, “I think the silly part about that message is because Piglet ended that message with ‘me.'”
“Piglet always ends her messages with ‘me,'” said Gabe.
Abigail said, “But I still think that’s funny.”
Gabe said, “Let’s just go and watch it together.”
“OK,” said Abigail.

The End.

Week 2 – Story Starter

LA 4 - Week 2Luke Skywalker began to shoot, he was in the middle of a battle. All of a sudden a lasso was cast over his head and his dog’s head. It began to pull tighter. He was tossed into a big bucket made for digging and the lasso was taken off. A gruff voice recognizably a storm trooper’s voice said, “That should keep you for a while! We’re going to use you for target practice.”

The bucket he was in began moving towards a place with open roof and guns on a table. And just as it was about to dump him into the room, the Millenium Falcon flew and hovered over him and tossed him a rope. He grabbed the rope and the Millenium Falcon began to fly away. Bullets were zooming past his ears. The dog was biting onto the rope with his teeth and pulling Luke’s hair while trying to hold on. And the Falcon flew them away to safety.

(Or if you don’t want that… There was a snap and they fell into the middle of a battle and were shot to death.)

Week 24 – You are the Teacher!

Abigail is going to teach how to tell time.

1. Look at the clock.
2. If the long hand is pointing at the 12 the short hand points to the time it is.
If the long hand is pointing at the 12 and the short hand is pointing at the 3, it’s 3 o’clock.
If the long hand is pointing at the 12 and the short hand is pointing at the 4, it’s 4 o’clock.
If the long hand is pointing at the 12 and the short hand is pointing at the 5, it’s 5 o’clock.
If the long hand is pointing at the 12 and the short hand is pointing at the 6, it’s 6 o’clock.
If the long hand is pointing at the 12 and the short hand is pointing at the 7, it’s 7 o’clock.
If the long hand is pointing at the 12 and the short hand is pointing at the 8, it’s 8 o’clock.
If the long hand is pointing at the 12 and the short hand is pointing at the 9, it’s 9 o’clock.
If the long hand is pointing at the 12 and the short hand is pointing at the 10, it’s 10 o’clock.
If the long hand is pointing at the 12 and the short hand is pointing at the 11, it’s 11 o’clock.
If the long hand is pointing at the 12 and the short hand is pointing at the 12, it’s 12 o’clock.

Abigail asked her student Emmy, “What time is it?”
Emmy said, “1 o’clock.”
Daddy asked, “How did you know that?”
Emmy said, “Because I listened to what Abigail said.”

Good job. You guys get a sticker.

Week 23 – Finish the Story

Original story:
Bob and his mother need groceries. They need bananas, bread, and milk. They get in their car and drive to the grocery store. Bob pushes the cart and his mother gets the food.

Abigail’s ending:
The grocery store didn’t have the food that they needed. Then they told the grocery store manager and she helped them find the food. Bob and his mother said, “We need bananas, bread, and milk.” The manager got the food for them.

They left the store and went home. They ate bananas, bread and butter and drank milk. That was their dinner.

Week 36 – Story-Starter

1B - LA - Week 36

Once upon a time eleven people were at the beach. It was night time so they made a fire. They were listening to music so they started dancing around the fire. To have fun, two boys started boxing. One boxer got a knockout. After a minute the guy who got knocked out got up. He started boxing another guy and he got a knockout. Then they stopped boxing because they didn’t want to do that anymore.
They setup a thing over the fire so they could cook food there. They cooked coconuts from the coconut tree. They ate the coconuts and it tasted good. After a little bit it was getting late so they put out the fire and went home.

Week 30 – Synthesis

How plants grow.

Dig a hole in soft soil and put a seed in the hole. Not the bag of seeds, but take one seed out and put it in the hole. Then cover it back it up with dirt. Then water the dirt where you planted it. Make sure it gets plenty of light so it will grow, but not too much light otherwise it will dry out. You might want to water it three times a day, or maybe four or five. Still make sure it gets plenty of light.

Then after a long time the stem grows up. At first it will be really small but after a while it gets bigger and bigger. Then you start to see petals, not pedals like on a bike, but petals on a flower. Remember, you still keep watering it. When all the petals are out, then you have a flower. But remember, you still water it and let it have plenty of sunshine. Now you have a plant, just make sure there’s no weeds around. That is how you plant a flower and how they grow.
