Week 21 – Read Aloud Summary (The Year of Miss Agnes)

The Year of Miss Agnes is about children in Alaska part of one big classroom who didn’t have a teacher until Miss Agnes came.

When Miss Agnes came the children thought that she wouldn’t like the smell of fish and leave. Miss Agnes said she couldn’t smell fish because she didn’t want the children to feel bad. The children started to like her.

She also took away all the old books in the school and brought new books. She also bought new pencils and made new books for them. She taught the children how to properly draw “o”‘s so they don’t look like a six.

The children loved Miss Agnes.

At the end, Miss Agnes had to go away. Teachers came to the school for only one year. The children were very, very sad. But Miss Agnes came back because she loved the children!

Week 19 – Illustrations

Once upon a time, there were two boys named Nathan and Gabe. They were 9 and 10. Nathan liked to exercise on his bike, and Gabe likes to explore.

One day when Nathan was riding his bike, Gabe found an old car. He wondered if the car would still work. So he got into the driver seat and turned the car on. He found out that the car was a flying car because the car started to fly! Gabe was really excited. He flew right past Nathan. Nathan heard the noise and looked up. He was surprised to find Gabe in a flying car!

Nathan asked Gabe if he could come in and Gabe said yes. But Gabe couldn’t land the car! It wouldn’t stop flying! Now Gabe was sad because his brother couldn’t come fly with him. Nathan was sad because he thought it would be way more fun to be in the flying car.

After an hour of being sad, Gabe saw a button in the car. He wondered what it would do… so he pushed it. The car started going down! He landed softly on the front lawn of their house. Then Nathan got in and they both started flying.

Week 19 – And They Lived Happily Ever After

Finishing the story “Lion in the Path!” in Stories from Africa.

Sam and Deng were heading to a village on a motorcycle to share with them about Jesus. Suddenly, they spot two full-grown lions on the path. A male and female.

This is how Sophia thinks it will end.

Sam and Deng turn off their motorcycle. Then they go quietly past the lions. The lions notice them, so they turn on the motorcycle and the lions turn to chase them. The lions couldn’t see them so they went back to their den.

Sam and Deng told the village about Jesus.

Week 18 – Thank-you Note

Thank Grandpa and Grandma for the American Girl trailer and beach hut. I like the map from Leah’s beach hut and I also like the trailer because there is eggs in it and marshmallows in the fire. My sisters, Abigail and Emily, usually fight over it because they like it a lot. I also like it because the beach hut has a swing, a surf board, a computer, and a glass with water and ice in it. It also has a bench.

Thank you so much for giving me these toys,

From Sophia

Week 16 – Interview a Character

Hi l’m Mcbroom this is my biography . I jumped out of bed and started playing with the wind up chicken then I wound up too much and exploded into a million pieces. So I started reading my favourite book how to farm with farmer Bob. I liked the country. A couple of years later I moved to the country and had lots of children and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots. “OK OK” I think you get it now. But don’t forget I lots of children. but I got tricked and cheated but it ended up for good we had nice good soil on on our farm ,and as soon as you planted a thing the thing that you planted pops out full-grown. Once I planned it a pumpkin seed and it came right out and hit in the face and knocked me out. My favourite things to do we’re racing pumpkins and farming my favourite holiday isn’t a holiday for most people but mine was going to the fair and I liked it, Because I really ever got to go to the city and I still live there to this day. (oh and by the way my face is black and blue from pumpkins).

Week 16 – A New Tale

Once upon a time a boy named Nathan wanted to get a dog. It was a sunny day. Nathan had a happy face and was whistling as he walked.

When he arrived at the pet store, he walked in happily. To his surprise everything was out of its cage. The bird had the fish in its claws. And the dogs were chasing the cats.

Nathan asked the storekeeper what was happening. The storekeeper answered him, “I will help you after you help me round up the animals and put them in their cages”.

“OK,” I said. “I will help.”

After they put the animals away in their cages, the store keeper told him what happened. “First a criminal came in and while I wasn’t looking he opened the cages and let the animals out. The animals running around and started chasing each other when you came.”

“I will help you,” I said, “if you let me keep all the animals.”

The storekeeper answered him, “I will let you keep them if you call the police and tell them to catch the criminal.”

“OK,” I said. “I will go call the police right now. While you are gone I will feed the animals.”

After he called the police and the criminal was caught, he helped clean up the mess. He was rich and didn’t care about how much it cost. He bought all the pets and went home happily.

Week 16 – Decoration Explanation

At Christmas we put a tree up inside the living room. It is an evergreen tree that we decorate with ornaments because we celebrate the day that Jesus Christ was born. The ornaments are balls with sparkles and little lights. We also have stars on there because on Christmas day, Jesus was born, and shepherds were looking after their sheep and they saw a bright star to show that there was a Savior there.

Week 15 – Our Busiest Day Ever!

Our busiest day ever was our last day at LaCasa. We started our day by eating breakfast. After breakfast we went to the pool. We practiced swimming and we also did our tricks jumping into the pool. I twirled around and so did Ab. We ate a picnic lunch by the pool.

After swimming we went to play outside by our house. Then we went to go take photos. Then we went to the beach. We played with our sand toys. I was going to go swimming in the lake, but the waves were too strong pushing me back. But only Nathan and Daddy could go. When we were at the beach, we were going home from the beach and I was crying because I didn’t want to go home.

Then we went inside and ate supper. Then we went outside and played. Then we wrote in our journals. Then we went to bed.

That was our busiest day ever!
