Week 11 – Description (Vikings)

A viking house would just have one room. Vikings fought a lot and they were good fighters. They often fought to get money, lots of money. The vikings lived a long time ago. They would heat up their house with a little fire that made steam come out a hole in the roof. To get from far away countries to get money, they would sail on ships and sometimes get attacked on their ships.

I would like to live in Viking times because I want to be a fighter and Vikings were fighters and they had lots of money.

Week 9 – Imagination (the Vet)

One day, I was waiting in my vet office for pet owners and my dad came in with  his pet eagle. I didn’t know Dad had a pet eagle! My dad said that his eagle’s mouth couldn’t snap shut. The eagle’s name was Fred. I looked inside Fred’s mouth and I saw that something was holding it open. It was a rock shaped like a fish.  Fred must have eaten it because it looked like a fish. The rock had cut the roof and the bottom of his mouth and it was bleeding a little bit.  I pulled it out.  It stopped bleeding.  Now Fred can snap his mouth shut again. Dad said “thank you for helping my eagle” and I told him that Fred can only eat soft foods until his cuts heal.

Week 8 – Story Starter

week08
Once upon a time, Abigail wanted to go and have an adventure in the middle of the night.  She walked down the road, into a forest. It was very dark, but she could see stuff because of the moon. She came to a clearing and then she sat down on the grass for a little bit. She heard some cracking noises, and it sounded like it was coming from behind all the trees. Abigail was scared because she thought it was a big bear but then she saw a little deer coming out of the trees and now she wasn’t scared. She liked the deer and wanted to bring it home. She decided to bring it home and see if the rest of the family wanted to keep it. When it was morning, she showed them the deer, and they wanted to keep it. The end.

Week 6 – Explanation

Today I’m going to help you make a grilled cheese sandwich. You will need bread, and cheese, and the sandwich press, and a knife. Plug in the sandwich press so it warms up. Cut a thin piece of cheese off the big block of cheese. Then take a slice of bread and put the slice of cheese on the bread. Then take another slice of bread and put it on the cheese. That’s called a sandwich. You put the sandwich in the sandwich press and close the press and open it up again when the green light turns on. Now you take it out and it’s a grilled cheese sandwich. You can have ketchup with it, if you want.

Week 4 – Recollecting the Military Museum

I went to the Military Museum and it was fun. We saw statues of army men. We saw big green and beige tanks that were real. We saw airplanes with their wings folded up so they wouldn’t hit each other. There were displays of army men, they were big with grass on them with pretend explosions and lots of army men on them. In between the airplanes there were statues of army men. I like the Military Museum and I want to go back one day.

Week 3 – Dialog

“I wish I had a million dollars,” said Gabe.
And Grandpa said, “Why?”
“To buy that cool car!”
“Why do you think it looks so cool?”
Gabe answered, “Because there are flames on the side and spikes on the top.”
And Grandpa said, “I like that car, too. I wish I had a million dollars, too!”

Week 36 – Dictate

1B - LA - Week 36One summer, a big family went to the beach for a vacation. They wanted to see if the weather at the beach was good so they used binoculars.

At the beach they found a big, huge carrot floating in the water. And this is how it got in the water: it grew in the sand and was washed out by a very very strong powerful wave. It was a mystery how it grew in the sand. It grew so big that it was 8 feet long because no one could pull it out so it kept growing and growing. That’s why it grew 8 feet long.

After they found the carrot they put it over a fire. They used two sticks that they had to plant deep in the sand so that it would not fall over when the heavy carrot was put on it. They put the carrot over the fire to cook it because if they went home in the car, it would take a long time because the beach was far away from home and mommy and daddy would starve before they got there. They also couldn’t bring the carrot home because their trunk was only 5 feet long.

The kids started dancing around the fire so their mommy and daddy started dancing too. They started dancing because they wanted to get warmed up all over. When the huge carrot was done cooking, they ate it. “Mmm, boy that was good,” said all the girls. The boys said, “Mmm, that was Dee-licious.”

The end.
