Week 33 – Narration (Describe Your Street)

When you walk down Riverbrook Way, you see very tall evergreen trees, some are even taller than our house. There are not a lot of traffic jams since the street is not very busy. Most of the cars that you’ll see are parked on driveways or on the road. As you walk on the sidewalk you’ll sometimes hear a car, but usually you’ll feel and hear a gentle breeze. It’s normally cold so we wear a hoodie but in summer we don’t. It is very hot and sunny in spring. In the winter the ground is covered in snow as white as sugar, in summer with grass as green as green can be. When you walk by our house you’ll see a large grey rock that feels very bumpy. Near the rock you’ll see a black lamp post that feels very smooth (when there’s no cobwebs on it).

Week 31 – Field Trip

Last week I got to go to the Edmonton Science Centre. I thought it would be just like the Calgary Science Centre, but it wasn’t. You can play with marbles on tracks and tubes. There was a spot where you could make islands out of sand and my Mom made Bora Bora! You can make Lincoln Log houses and see if they stand a shaking foundation. When I saw all this stuff, I really liked it and it was really fun.

Week 30 – Synthesis

How plants grow.

Dig a hole in soft soil and put a seed in the hole. Not the bag of seeds, but take one seed out and put it in the hole. Then cover it back it up with dirt. Then water the dirt where you planted it. Make sure it gets plenty of light so it will grow, but not too much light otherwise it will dry out. You might want to water it three times a day, or maybe four or five. Still make sure it gets plenty of light.

Then after a long time the stem grows up. At first it will be really small but after a while it gets bigger and bigger. Then you start to see petals, not pedals like on a bike, but petals on a flower. Remember, you still keep watering it. When all the petals are out, then you have a flower. But remember, you still water it and let it have plenty of sunshine. Now you have a plant, just make sure there’s no weeds around. That is how you plant a flower and how they grow.

Week 19 – And They Lived Happily Ever After

Jack and the Beanstalk. We read to the point of story where Jack climbs the beanstalk, finds gold, takes some and then the giant comes in. Abigail now finishes the story.

The giant came to Jack and took his gold out of Jack’s pockets. Then Jack ran away without the giant looking. And he ran away as fast as he can. Jack ran out of the castle and went down the beanstalk and ran away as he can run. He went home.
The giant was angry. He didn’t know that Jack went home. He stomped away and told his guards, “He escaped!”

The End

Week 29 – Story Starters (Star Wars Attack)

week29Once upon a time, it was midnight and I was asleep. My dog was barking and woke up. I saw flashing lights outside my window. I snuck downstairs and took the leash off the wall and attached it to my dog. I walked outside and saw a huge thing with flashing lights. It looked like a flying saucer. And then I remembered that every time I heard my parents talking about flying saucers, they said they didn’t exist. But I just saw one!  Then I had to duck because it shot a bullet at my house behind me. Then it shot bullets in all directions! Every minute I had to duck. I ran home and called the police.  I saw the police coming and they got into the flying saucer.  Then the police marched out carrying storm-troopers on their back.  The police killed the storm troopers at the police station.  I realized that it wasn’t a flying saucer, it was a huge spaceship.   The police came back and took the spaceship away. The end.

Week 24 – Imagination

Gabriel McKnight lives in the Middle Ages. Every time when they were trying to get a castle they fire the catapult because they are trying to get the castle for themselves. The catapult is for firing stuff over the castle walls. Things like stones.

“When I first invented the catapult I used it for making holes in the castle walls so my army could get through. We killed some of their army and made the rest prisoners. Then we repaired the walls and started living in the castle. When another army came, we fired our own catapult over the walls toward the other army to kill them. It was good until the other armies invented the canon so they could shoot down the walls and get in. They could also dig trenches under the walls so the walls would fall down. They also made siege towers so they could get in the castle. Very soon, the other armies using their weapons got into the castle. I, Gabriel McKnight, got away with nine soldiers.”

The End.
