Week 4 – I Remember

I remember when I went to Drumheller and the Atlas Coal Mine. The coal mine was fun because I got to see a lot friends there. We learned about how they got coal out of the mountain. We got to see the mine but the mine was very dark. We didn’t get to ride down the conveyor belt because it wasn’t working. We also got to stay at a hotel and swim!

It was a good trip and we had lots of fun. You should go there too!

The End.

Week 3 – Newspaper Reporter

Boy Rescued By Shark

“Our boy got rescued by a shark,” said Mr. and Mrs. Bates.

Riley, the boy’s sister said, “I saw my brother in deep water where he couldn’t swim.”

“I thought he was going to drown,” said Allison, the boy’s other sister.

“We saw a shark and we thought he was going to eat our son,” said the boy’s father.

“The shark went under and then slowly went up and our boy rode him to shore,” said the boy’s mother.

Sharks are supposed to eat people, not rescue them. This is certainly an incredible story.

Week 3 – Fairy Tale Dialog

“What do you like doing best?” said Christopher Robin.

“Well,” said Pooh. “What I like doing best is when I come over to you and you say, ‘How ’bout a smackerel of honey?’”

“What I like doing best,” said Christopher Robin, “is just doing nothing.”

“How do you do nothing?” replied Pooh.

“Well, grownups ask you what are you going to do and you say, ‘Nothing.’”

“I like that! Let’s do it all the time,” said Pooh.

Week 36 – Story Starter

Once upon a time, a family went to their garden to pull out their carrot. They only had one carrot. When they pulled it out, it was small. So they put it back in because they didn’t want a small carrot. Two years later, they pulled it out again. Now, it was huge. It was as tall as a person. It was 2 metres tall!

One day, when they finished school for the year, they went to the beach to camp. When they went to the beach, they brought their big carrot. They built a fire for light at night time. They also used the fire to roast the carrot. While the carrot was roasting, they danced around the carrot. They loved carrots. They were happy that they had the biggest carrot in the whole world.

They ate the carrot and they finished it all up and fell asleep on the sand because they were tired from dancing.

The end.

Week 35 – Invent (A Big Ball of String)

I’m going to make a bridge out of string. Across the Bow River. I’m going to tell you how. First, you take a big ball of string and you tie one of the ends to a tree and the other end to another tree across the river. The water isn’t very deep, so you wear shorts and you walk across the river to other side. Climb up a hill, and then you have the other end of the string with you in your hand and you tie it to the tree. Now, you can go back and forth as long as you want. Back and forth across the bridge. You have to hang onto the string with your right hand, and then your left hand holds on, then your right, then your left and keep doing that until you get across. You have to move your hands one in front of the other, until you get to the other side. It’s not a very good bridge, but the string is all I have to use.

Week 33 – Narration

The first thing you see when you walk into the room is a big, huge, dark blue, twisty water slide. The pool water smells like chlorine. You see white chairs beside the big blue pool. After you go into the big pool, there is a hot tub. The hot tub feels warm. Once I went down to the bottom of the hot tub. There is a button on the wall and the sign says, “Please press this button and there will be bubbles.” When you press the button, bubbles come in the hot tub, not in the big pool. The bubbles make a sound but don’t have a smell. The bubbles make a “bab ba bab buh ba blub” sound. There are also lots of kids in the room and some people jump into the water and make a splash. It is noisy because of splashes and everyone is talking and yelling “weeeeeeeeee” down the big slide. There are ladders and steps so you can get in the water. The floor is wet and slippery. Mommy and Daddy tell us not to run because we will slip! And, at the other side of the big pool there are ladders on all the sides, at the top, and the sides. At the other side of the pool, it is DEEP! Mommy and Daddy told me not to go in there because I will drown. They also told me to stay near the stairs because it is not deep. There is a shower to wash off the chlorine when you’re done swimming in the big pool and the hot tub.

The End!

I wish you enjoy the story!

Week 31 – Synthesis

A vivid description of going to the Bow Habitat.

This week we went to the Bow Habitat. It was very fun! We got to feed lots of fish. There were billions of fish! The fish were in gigantic tubs of water. It smelled like fish. We weren’t allowed to touch the fish because we would get the fish sick and they would die. We don’t want to do that because we don’t want to kill the fish. That’s why before we went into the room where the fish were in the tubs, we washed our hands.

You should go to the Bow Habitat because you’ll learn about fish.

The End

Week 30 – Synthesis

Describing sausages from “See How It’s Made”

They make sausages in a factory. This is how they make it. You’ll have to get a pig and kill the pig to get the meat for the sausages. You bake the pig. Then someone grinds up the meat. Then they put it in a curved tube like the shape of a sausage. Then they grab the tube and put it over the fire for a few minutes. When the sausages are done, you wash the sausages and then you put the sausages on a plate and eat them!

The End.
