Week 3 – Fairy Tale Dialog

“Witch, get away from our castle otherwise we’ll kill you!” said Snow White.

The witch cackled, “Not if I destroy the castle and you first!”

“How can you do that if you don’t have any weapons?”

“Well, I don’t need any weapons. I can just make you die.”

“Let’s see you do it!”

The witch couldn’t do anything because her hands were tied behind her back by a guard. They led the witch to jail. Snow White said, “All the stuff that you tried to do you couldn’t.” The witch sighed.

The End.

Week 3 – Dictate Dialog

“I wish I had a cat,” said Abigail.

Emily said, “You can’t have a cat like that!”

“When I grow up I’m going to go to the animal shop and get a cat.”

Sophia said, “I want to come too!”

“Sophia, when you grow up you can come with me.”

“Ok,” said Sophia.

Nathan said, “I’m going to come too and buy a dog so my dog can bite your cat!”

Abigail said, “I changed my mind, I’m going to buy a lion to bite your dog, Nathan!”

“If everybody is coming then who will watch on the house?”

The End

Week 2 – Like What?

Original from Week 1: Elephants are grey and very big with white tusks and a little tail. They have very rough skin which looks like armour. They smell a little stinky, because they poo a lot. They poo a lot because they eat a lot of straw using their trunks to scoop up straw into their mouths. They can be very loud when they blow though their trunk – it sounds like a trumpet!

Elephants are grey like dark storm clouds, big like mountains, with tusks as white as snow. They have very rough skin which looks like armour.   They make you want to go “bleh!” because they are as stinky as a rotten egg.  It’s not their fault – they smell because they eat a lot (because they’re big) which makes them poo a lot.  They can be very loud when they blow though their trunk – it sounds like a trumpet, and when they stomp on the ground it sounds like there’s thunder.

Week 2 – Family Portrait

Our family likes to go to Oishii Sushi because there’s a kind of sushi and this is what it’s called. It’s called Salmon on top of rice. The kids like to go to Oishii because they like sushi. Mommy and Daddy also like Oishii because they like sushi too. Sometimes Daddy wrestles with us. The boys like fighting Daddy, and the girls like to snuggle with Mommy. We also like when Daddy reads to us or makes up stories about three little princesses and two little princes, and King Daddy and Queen Mommy. We love stories and Oishii sushi.

Week 1 – Finish the Story

Story Starter: Tim and Sally received a new sled for Christmas one year. They waited and waited for the snow to fall so they could use it. Just before they went to bed one night, they saw snowflakes fall. When they got up the next morning, snow had fallen on everything. They got on their warm clothes and…

… jumped outside. They heard a squirrel that was cold. Then they saw a skunk so they ran back inside. And when the skunk passed they went back outside and climbed up a big hill with the sled. Then they rode down on the sled together and they crashed into the fence. They were crying and went back home and had hot coco. Their mom said, “You better not go outside because you might crash and hurt yourself.” And the boy and girl said, “We wanted to play with our new sled.” Then they went back to bed and said, “Let’s see if the snow is still out next morning.” If the snow is out then they will go and play with the sled. And if they get hurt they will have hot coco.

The End

Week 1 – Pat the Rat

One day Pat was feeling hungry, so he went out to buy some food because he had no food at home. He went to the grocery store and bought apples, pears, bananas and cheese. He also bought potatoes and tomatoes. And then he went home. When he got home he said hello to his mom and sat at the table to wait for his food. His mom made a big pie called Apple Pie and she brought it to the table. And then they ate. The next day, they ate the other food that Pat brought from the grocery store. The end.

Week 1 – Describe an Animal

Elephants are grey and very big with white tusks and a little tail. They have very rough skin which looks like armour. They smell a little stinky, because they poo a lot. They poo a lot because they eat a lot of straw using their trunks to scoop up straw into their mouths. They can be very loud when they blow though their trunk – it sounds like a trumpet!

Week 1 – Family Heritage

(Retelling a story from Daddy’s childhood)

I just found a tub and it floats. I think we could turn it into a boat. Let’s make a good strong paddle that will turn.

“How will it turn?” said Ryan.
“We will turn it,” I said.
“How?”
“With bicycles. Let’s bring it to the pond.”

So we built a boat with the tub in the front and a barrel in the back and wooden propellers attached to the barrel. We attached bicycles on each side of the tub so when you pedalled it turned the propellers. It worked like a paddle boat.

We pulled the boat into the pond and started pedalling. I looked down and one of my chain links had fallen off my bike’s pedal chain and into the water! So I dove in after it which made the boat unbalanced which dumped Ryan into the water.

I never found that chain link, and we never used that boat again.

Week 23 – An Odd Place to Surface

One day Nathan and Gabe were in the kitchen putting dishes away. They heard something in the living room. It sounded like something was dropping into their fishbowl. So Gabe looked around the corner and saw a diver!  But he was not a real diver.  He was a toy diver that was as big as Abigail’s hand.  Somebody had dropped him into the fishbowl and left him behind. Who did it?  It couldn’t have been Nathan because he was busy in the kitchen.  Mommy and Daddy were in the kitchen too, helping the boys. Sophia was in bed taking a nap. Emily would not do such a thing. Abigail must have done it! Nathan and Gabe asked Abigail if she dropped the diver into the fishbowl. And Abigail said, “Yes. I thought the diver wanted to have his boat back.” The boys were angry at Abigail. Then Emily said, “I put the boat in the fishbowl.” And the boys were angry with her too. They girls said, “Sorry” and the boys weren’t angry anymore and let the girls play with their Lego.
